Praise for Late Dawn

"An exciting tale of a young woman determined to protect wildlife, even in a world where animals have evolved into giants with the power to wipe out humanity... The author has cleverly extrapolated a modern scientific problem, wildlife conservation, into an exciting sci-fi premise. Marra’s efforts to stop the mass killing of animal species being seen as a hindrance to human progress provides a nice parallel to the current conservation crisis."

"Intense and thought-provoking, Late Dawn is an eye opener for the fact that 'actions create results'. It shows the importance of finding harmonious ways of co-existing on this planet we call home."

DANIELLE MARTINS, INTERNATIONAL BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF RISING UP FROM MENTAL SLAVERY—HOW TO UNLEASH YOUR INFINITE POTENTIAL

“Despite years editing various novels across genres, Tanmizi has managed to surprise me with a highly engaging science fiction story that eerily parallels current scientific trends, especially related to genetic engineering. This is one of those stories that forces you to invest in the protagonist and feel her highs and lows as she experiences them, resulting in a narrative that is difficult to put down. I applaud the efforts Tanmizi has put forth to create a believable world that both pushes the bounds of imagination and inserts a subconscious awareness of a possible dystopian future, and look forward to her future endeavors in this competitive genre.”

SAM STROZZO, INTERNATIONAL EDITOR AND CANDIDATE FOR PhD IN MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS

"Michelle introduces us to a world at once alien to 21st century humans, yet of our own making. ... Late Dawn may be SF, but are we on a path that makes it prescient? An interesting read for all those concerned by how we are treating our planet. A ‘thumbs up’ for this debut novel from Michelle Tanmizi."

ANDY GRIFFITHS, SCUBA INSTRUCTOR, HONG KONG

“Michelle Tanmizi has combined many of her passions in her thought-provoking fiction novel ‘Late Dawn’. This exciting story focuses on conservation, animals and human behaviour. Her book may be prophetic and reminds us that we need to make changes today to safeguard the environment or we may face peril in the future. ‘Late Dawn’ will entertain and fascinate you, whilst making you think about ways you can ensure the future of our planet in your daily life.”

JULES HANNAFORD, AUTHOR OF FOOL ME TWICE AND  HOST OF HONG KONG CONFIDENTIAL PODCAST

This authors futuristic allegory serves as a warning to us if we carry on abusing our planet. The writing is clever and thought provoking and definitely out side the box in terms of idea and subject. This book is addictive and stayed with me long after I’d finished it. (It took me two days!) I sympathised with the plot and struggles that Aarav had to endure. This book is the global warming version of the Christmas Carol and what would happen if we don’t take better care of our planet. I applaude Ms Tanmizi and I can’t wait to read her next piece of work. I don’t usually read science fiction/fantasy and this book indeed did take me out of my comfort zone which ultimately is a good thing because I found a gem of a writer.

Fun, fast paced sci-fi read

"Really interesting storyline that is actually eerie in its real world potential, this sci-fi novel follows a young girl destined to be a hero. She has her ups and down alongside a few surprises, making it quite a fun read! Definitely recommend, especially if you're into animals, sci-fi, and girl power... although it stands on its own too. Good read!"

This wonderfully written book captures its reader with its novel style of science fiction

"Many books have been published on the future of mankind. All of them remain speculation as long as the future behaviour of mankind remains as unpredictable as it is. Even the most scientific works, such as published by Michio Kaku, yield ample room for more or less read-worthy phantasy. Michelle Tanmizi’s new and exciting novel “Late Dawn” has the legitimacy to occupy much of that room. Her novel is a pleasure to read, not only due to both, her exquisite language and narrative techniques, but also because she captures her reader with a realistic and humane story of a young woman’s life endured during an apex of mankind’s suicidal behaviour."

Highly Recommended

"I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book as it’s not a genre I usually read, but I quickly fell under its spell. (If a book doesn’t pull me in within the first 20 pages I move on - too many books, too little time...)
The author has created a fascinating but troubling future world in which we find well defined characters; especially that of Marra, the storyteller.
There is mystery, adventure, skulduggery and a little (lightly done) romance all overlaid by the world in which humans lost their respect for Mother Nature - and there are big prices to be paid.
A romping good story and highly recommended."

"Truly enjoyed the book... it is nice mixture of science fiction and the struggle of mankind to balance with nature and especially wildlife... the writer shows us a world in which animals are separated from men and live in dedicated reserves... exciting to the end with a great climax... it is like peeping through the 'back door'... to a futuristic and very realistic world... really loved it... hope the writer will continue her good work and hope to read and experience more from her in the future..."

A very pertinent addition to environmentally focused science fiction

"This book was so imaginative and oddly realistically portrayed given the subject matter. A must read for those that enjoy science fiction but also those that share a concern for the environment. I was impressed and shocked."

Couldn't be more Timely

"I have never read books in this genre, but this is one well worth reading. It will kind of chill you to your core. Michelle's writing style flows into a world that you wouldn't imagine you'd find yourself in, except I read it during these times, so it was especially prescient. I can easily see this book as a movie, one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Let's hope Mother Nature has some kinder plans. An excellent read!"
